Pseudostratified Columnar Epithelium

Pseudo-stratified epithelium looks like there are two rows of cells, with the top row being columnar. However, this is a simple epithelial; all cells touch the basement membrane Therefore, it is considered a simple epithelium. This illusion is because nuclei do not line up and this gives it a columnar a stratified appearance. pseudo-stratified epithelium often has either cilia or microvilli as well. The picture to the left is from the trachea so it is ciliated. In the trachea, mucus producing goblet cells can also be observed.

Slides on this page were made by students between the spring of 2018 and the spring of 2020. Go through the diffrent student pictures and compare them to your lab book picture. Then slect one to draw on paper.
