This page has the brain stem and the cerebellum. It is to show you the gray and the white matter found in these regions. The cerebellum will have white matter surronded by gray matter while the brain stem resmbles the spine with white matter around gray matter. . The picture to the left is from the lab book. The picture on the right are student files from the fall of 2019.

A special type of multipolar neuron is called the stemramidal cell (right) and they are found in the gray matter of the cerebral cortex. stemramidal cells play a role in memory and are also found in the main motor tract leaving the brain. On the slide, you should be able to see the 2 types of glial cells found in the brain. Astrocytes tend to be larger in size than oligodendrocytes, which form the myelin sheath around axons of the brain. If you look at astrocytes with the oil immersion lens, the astrocytes will also have more processes.
