Apocrine Sweat Gland

Apocrine sweat glands are found on the border between the reticular dermis and the hypodermis. If you observe the picture to the right, you will notice the apocrine sweat glands are almost in the hypodermis. Apocrine sweat glands are coiled less tightly than eccrine sweat glands. Furthermore, apocrine sweat glands have a larger lumen than eccrine sweat glands. In fact, an entire eccrine gland could almost fit in 1 tube of an apocrine gland. Another difference is that their ducts exit onto hair follicles in most cases
