Nephron

This is the middle section of the kidney series model. It shows a nephron imposed on the renal cortex (to the top) and the renal medulla (towards the bottom). Therefore, this was one of the wedges on the kidney model. The arcuate artery and vein show the division between the renal cortex and the renal medulla. I like this model because it does a good job of showing where the nephron is in relation to blood vessels, the cortex, and the medulla. I will only have you identify arterioles and the arcuate artery on this model. The rest of the blood vessels will be on the blood vessel model. WHen done, click on the box to see the glomerulus close up.
